Hintergrund

Marie-Alexandrine Sicre is a senior scientist at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique at Sorbonne University, Paris, France. She earned a PhD in Marine Sciences from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris. Her research focuses on the role of the ocean in climate variability over the Common Era. She is also involved in the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, serving as vice-chair of the French National Decade Committee.

She is currently vice-chair of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC-UNESCO) and previously served as President of the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) from 2016 to 2020 and as SCOR Past President from 2020 to 2024. She co-chaired the Second International Indian Ocean Expedition program from 2020 to 2024 and was appointed an ISC Fellow in 2022.
